How Fonts Selection Impact on Resumes

When going to apply for a job, then most probably you are going to get your resume with you after the HR recruiter asks you to pay them a visit. Even if you are having expertise in vast areas and fulfills on their requirements but have you ever thought that how could you impress them even in tough competition? No one’s going to waste his/her time in asking same questions again and again so people use/read resumes making the process easy and in flow. But most people take resumes just as a white paper having their bio, qualification and work experience in it and lose their chance to be selected in that particular job by not paying any attention to the font used in it.
Why Font Selection is Important:
First of all, resumes are being used by millions of people, even though having different level of expertise, but they look like each other as most of the resumes are printed on a white paper with words in black color in them then how could you expect a piece of paper to help you stand out from others when it is not looking different itself?
Fonts represent your choice of selection and taste of style so when the recruiter start reading the resume, he/she instantly make a perception about your personality that really impacts the chances of your either to be selected or rejected in that job. Font selection is as important, when preparing your resume, as you pay attention to your suite and practice mock interview sessions before leaving for interview. Try those fonts that suit the nature of the job as well as represent your personality as well.
How to Select the Perfect Font Style:
Using ‘Times New Roman’ or ‘Arial’ fonts is a common thing and that makes your resume an ordinary one even if you have mentioned tons of work experience or degrees on it. Try something new that would help you stand out like if you are going to apply for a graphic designer’s designation then why would you rely on these conventional fonts? Prove your creativity by using some interesting and lively fonts in your resume so that the person, on the other end, make a good perception about you and give you a plus point after watching your resume.
If you still do not want to leave your traditional choice in ‘Serif’ or ‘San-Serif’ font family then you would definitely figure some of the newest and coolest fonts designed by different designers on the web.
How to Know That You Selected the Right Font:

If you are still not sure about your font selection then you can either ask a friend or family member, who has some knowledge in designing a bit, to look at your resume and tell if it make exceptional impression when they saw it first.
